Become a Coach

Coaching flag football with Clarington is one of the most rewarding things you can do on a Tuesday night. You get to work directly with youth athletes, teach the game, and watch them grow over the course of a season. Most of our coaches are parents who just love football. No certification is required to start. We will help you get one if you want it.

Coaches lead their team on game nights at South Courtice Arena. Practice scheduling is flexible and up to you and your team. The league provides the official NFL FLAG coaching guide, play diagrams, and support from the league coordinator. All coaches go through a background check, which is handled through our NFL FLAG affiliation at no cost to you.

Volunteer Role

Become a Referee

Officiating flag football is a different kind of involvement. You are on the field every game night, keeping things fair, keeping the energy up, and mentoring athletes in real time. It is a great way to stay connected to the game without coaching a team.

Referees work Tuesday evenings at South Courtice Arena. We typically run two games at the same time and need two to three referees per game night. Games run from 6pm to 7pm. A solid understanding of football rules is helpful but not required. If you are confident, fair, and good with youth athletes, we can teach you the rest. Referee positions are paid per game night. Community service hours are also available for students.
